No wonder its untapped on the back of what we have seen so far! Very poor is my summary of the two Portuguese we have seen this last week and - forgive me for being cynical - it just doesn't look like the signings have what it takes. Keannochio takes us all for idiots. The reality is Rovers are doing it on the cheap and we still haven't seen a major signing this summer i.e. someone who will seriously deliver at a level that will guarantee us promotion. All the talk about Rhodes - and now Lambert - is just that. Its just a smokescreen and designed to whet the appetites of Rovers fans. Sadly as the window closes that will also be wheeled out as the reason why it didn't happen i.e. we ran out of time. Clear off Kean and the rest of you. You have shafted this club well and proper

Untapped market - well that's another load of waffle. To add to the comments regarding the number of Portuguese arriving I don't expect much from Paulo Jorge and Edinho as they are 'young talent' however giving Nunes the number 7 shirt is significant so let's hope he can deliver this season. Gomes will be fine but this latest one does need to hit the ground running. As a centre back which we have been crying out for he comes in at a pivotal time. He's 25 so that 'young talent' tag won't wash, he will need to adapt quickly and get used to being one of Kean's boys until he proves himself to the club and the fans. kean@idiscoveredphil

Henrique signed for another club only this summer and now signs for us !!!! Take it certain people will be making lots of money. Another Rochina deal no doubt. 500k for the player and 1.5mil to the bent agents. This club and it's transfer policy stinks. And said J.A was no longer involved.

Can't help feeling there's something dodgy happening here. It's common knowledge that experienced, determined and proven players get teams out of this very difficult league - not unknown, untried players from abroad.

Above poster is correct, a very popular agency has offices in Portugal. I'd be willing to bet there are large "fee's" involved with many of these transfers, as was the case with Ruben Rochina.

Whole thing stinks in my opinion.

Thankfully though we have had the results on the pitch so far, and that's the most important thing. Fact is, even though the team has got worse, we do still have a set of players capable of promotion.

Why do all these European places have different names, like Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Germnay, etc etc....

Get the good player with a budget on the correct spot, I think the S.Kean speaks port and these portuguese influx is not bad, because of N.Gomes. He is amazing, at the age of 36 also, he shows the pace ,control and get goals.

All the best...Kean is lucky for last three games, He give all the new players few mts on the ground too. So the fans can predict the outcome of each player. Still I feel experianced strong/tall/fit/tech
nical players play a big role than the young boys in this level.

I have to comment as I have vocally and previously been disgusted at the way the club has been run, with our no mark of a manager and I am one that has not renewed. However my take is that we cannot for whatever reason get rid of them (not for the want of trying). I miss my footy on a Saturday and going to watch another team just doesn’t do it for me. So I think I am going to start going to the odd home game and away matches to support the team. It’s all very well saying Kean out but until he makes a mess of things in this league then I don’t think they will sack him. As for Shebby I quite like the guy and hope that he does have the power to remove SK if he doesn’t perform this season, and the Squad is good enough to get back up.

It may well just be due the fact that Kean speaks the lingo, but I doubt it. It may well be it is the euro crisis and our comparative better pay structure, almost certainly. It may well be we have a better eye for 'untapped talent' than anyone else ???
It may well be that 'the agency' has a very large say and part to play in all of this!
But come on, six Portugese players ???

My view for what its worh is: its a combination of all of the above and this is a gamble in numbers i.e. here on the cheap and one or two or three or four come good, they become 'marketable' and are sold on at a profit.
Its a conveyor belt for potential pofit, a bit like the poultry business.

Only one way to make money in football (esp at our level), trade players (at a profit).
Of course this happens at every club, much to the dismay of the support, but thats modern football for you.

They may be cheaper but can they play in the ice and snow of a British winter as they wear gloves and leggings in summer.Please get a decent striker Swansea dont have any go back with an higher bid for Rhodes.

Nothing wrong with Portuguese players per se (as long as they don't spend too much time rolling about on the ground waving their hands at the ref).

Portugal has a population of only approx 11 million and consistently does as well or better than England in international tournaments. They are technically superior to English players so let's see what they can do for us before we write them off.

But "untapped market" He obviously means "blissfully ignorant" of the circus at Ewood these days I'm afraid. Top much **** footing around trying to save a few pennies to attract decent players. I hear Rhodes would have been in the bag had we just gone in with 6m and not the **** around promotion deals before HT pulled the plug.

It's too late now, unless a team has a surplus (read useless) striker, its unlikely we are about to get anyone decent before Friday. I predict another Portuguese announcement by Thursday. On a plus side, it will be easier on the team when we relocate to India to save money.. Similar climate etc..

I think people should wait and see what these new players will produce before we completely slate the signings. Portugal is a pretty untapped market and most of the players at the higher level have far superior technical ability than the equivalent English players and to be honest given the ridiculous price hike for English players (Scott Downing - £20 million, Andy Carroll - £32 million) why pay that kind of silly money when you can purchase a slightly unknown talent for far less and if the result pays off then you can't really lose.

I for one think this new defender looks pretty good, fairly no-nonsense with a very good turn of pace and a great header of the ball, and at the end of the day did we not call for a defender?

Eye brows would have been raised if any club had signed 2 Portuguese players in a single transfer window.

We have now signed 6 players!

Can't help but think that Venkys plan is shop enough at Lidl and you are bound to find the odd unknown brand that's almost as good as the real thing. These you can sell on at a price that more than covers the dross you've bought as well. Hope it works out. It has very little to do with running a successful football club.

Will you be at MK Dons tonight?..... Didn't think so. I will be, shouting on the ROVERS!!!

That's an easy one to answer. You all keep spouting the same garbage day in day out. Its obvious that Keane isnt going to get sacked unless we have a real bad run of form (forget last season). You want the club to be successful? back them to the hilt. Do you have to like keane no, I doubt winning the CL would get people liking him, but the TEAM needs its 12th man backing them not staying away spitting dummies out.

Well, wrigglers, I don't think it is garbage to ask questions about a club which in less than two years has sacked its reasonably competent manager,, brought in a hallucinating clown in his place, shed all its best players, brought in cheap inferior never-were-and never will be's, , , lost its 11 year place in the premiership, lost circa 10,000 supporters and millions of pounds off its value. Are we not entitled to keep asking why? The chances of this club being successful again under the current regime is nil. And thousands of us will stay away until they've gone. Incidentally, my first match was in 1949. Do you not think it doesn't hurt?

Why is it garbage? Some people, well no, quite alot of people, don't like being lied to or taken as fools. People can only spout the 'same garbage' as you put it because they are still being feed the 'same garbage' from the Club. In my opinion the fans have always been behind the team, but they, like everyone else connected to the Club are just spectators, watching one man living out his deluded dream believing he's a football manager. In no other Club in this Country from the Premier league to the Ryman league would this idiot still be in a job after all he's done and said. He clearly has not got the ability,on and off the pitch but we are owned by people who have no knowledge of the game, so the Circus continues. He doesn't even come across as being humble and greatfull that he's still in a job, more, that he thinks its his God given right.
Thats what people don't like, so if they don't want to give their hard earned money to fund that, then clearly why should they.

The first point you make of sacking big sam. Dont want to upset you bu most of the fans called for his head before he was sacked due to the uninspiring football he played.

Second point bringing in the clown reap what you sow. you asked for a new manager, the guy so a chance and took it with both hands (cant fault anyone for that) yes he should of gone last season.

Third point the players shown the door cant argue with that too much, all i can say is that I wouldnt of played salgado again if it meant giving him another 12 months and samba cried to leave each and every transfer window. Im not making excuses.

fourth point I dont care who the players are or how good they are, when you have your so called fans booing you at games they are not going to perform, they needed backing we as fans did not do that, the swansea game being the worse game ive ever been to with the home crowd booing the home team for scoring. Thats really helpful.

We have lost our prem place before and if history tells us anything those 10k fans will come back they did then (compare the crowds from the last championship season to this it is around 4k difference). The club havent had much success bar one tit for tat cup and a midtable finish since the days of shearer and sutton, unless you class promotion as success.

I'm pretty sure I've not blamed the fans?! and I agree it's down to Venky's!! Venky's could easily sack Kean and that would secure the return of 10,000+ fans... However thats not going to happen, as sad as it is, Venky's are business folk, and Kean being in charge is a cheap option for them. So they're quids in (or rupees if you like). The point I was trying to make is that Kean and Venky's aren't going anywhere for the forseeable future so we as fans... have 2 options. We either stay away until they sell up and/or sack Kean or we deal with the hand we are dealt and try and make the best of a bad situation. I'm not saying that either opinion is right or wrong, that's the beauty of an opinion, however my stance on this is, support the TEAM (not Venky's/Kean), try and acheive promotion and get a good cup run. We're all in the same boat, so why not unite, have fun and cheer on the club we all love... i dunno, just a thought.

More sense spoken. Anyone not going because they think that attending has any significant financial consequence to Venkys is as deluded as kean. The only people hurt by none attendance are IMHO: the players/team, kids missing seeing nuno Gomes scoring for rovers and locals working as stewards, on the concourse, local businesses who supply the ground. And as the post above suggests the actual number not attending on principle is a lot lower than 10000, there are believe it or not plenty who only want to watch a premiership team and previous history shows that.

Venkeys' are the ones responsible for the empty seats. We were averaging well over 20,000 until they arrived and it's gone down hill ever since.

Hardly the new Samba. We need a big tall strong center back. This guy I am sure is no better than Grant Hanley who is taller!

When we were in the prem, I suggest you look back at previous championship and div 1 attendances. Venkys / kean are responsible for a significant drop but not 10k as frequently suggested.

The point I was trying to make is that Kean and Venky's aren't going anywhere for the forseeable future so we as fans... have 2 options. We either stay away until they sell up and/or sack Kean or we deal with the hand we are dealt and try and make the best of a bad situation. I'm not saying that either opinion is right or wrong, that's the beauty of an opinion, however my stance on this is, support the TEAM (not Venky's/Kean), try and acheive promotion and get a good cup run. We're all in the same boat, so why not unite, have fun and cheer on the club we all love... i dunno, just a thought.

Hi Wild Rover, It's a dilemma. I agree with many of your points but as you say they are business people and what worries me is they seem to be putting their business side of things before the footballing side of things.
We have never been used to our club being run as a business. Football came first and if there was any profit, being unlikely, that was just a bonus.
What I can't support is the broken promises and one that springs to mind is the 5 million each transfer window. What happened there ?
We all want Kean and the Venkeys' out but by turning up every week regardless is only going to prolong their stay, in my opinion.
We all have our own way of dealing with the present situation, as it should be.

Third point the players shown the door cant argue with that too much, all i can say is that I wouldnt of played salgado again if it meant giving him another 12 months and samba cried to leave each and every transfer window. Im not making excuses.

fourth point I dont care who the players are or how good they are, when you have your so called fans booing you at games they are not going to perform, they needed backing we as fans did not do that, the swansea game being the worse game ive ever been to with the home crowd booing the home team for scoring. Thats really helpful.

Last game of last season was or biggest home gate.Venkys were owners and Kean was manager.All season long the fans said they were fully behind the team.
First game this season,Venkys were the owners and Kean was the manager and we get 13000+.
The team needs support now as much as ever.If anyone was there right till the Wigan game,why wouldn't you be there for the Hull game.

Agree with those sentiments, I'm not at anyone's throat. There are two sides to the coin, I believe I'm supporting the team, like fans at lots of clubs where crazy things have happened. I just think some realism is needed to the frequent claim that 10k will come back (regularly) if kean goes. These pages are riddled with negativity and frequently unbalanced. You can blame all you like but at the end of the day it's a personal choice how you support the team, mine is to turn up each week whatever, through thick and thin.
