The couple met at the Majestic dance hall, South Woodford and were married on August 3, 1946, at Woodford Union Church, Woodford Green.

Mr McGregor, a retired electrical engineer from Sunderland, came to Essex when he was stationed at North Weald and Chigwell while serving with the RAF.

Retired school teacher Mrs McGregor taught for many years at Epping Junior School, St John's Road, and Alderton School, Loughton.

Mr McGregor said: "We've been together so long we work together as a team, I do the hoovering when she does the washing up; when I cut the lawn she weeds the garden."

Mrs McGregor said: "We really care about each other and you try to make each others life as nice as possible. It's not always lovey-dovey but we just rub along nicely."

The couple, who live in Abridge, have enjoyed dancing for 62 years and continue to rumba and line dance in Epping, Abridge and Walthamstow.

Mrs McGregor said: "It's the moving to the music which is so special. With us it's always been about dancing."

The couple have a son, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
