COMPANIES in East Lancashire are being encouraged to recycle more of their waste.
Lancashire Waste Services have cut costs for most commercial users visiting the 13 recycling centres they operate in the area.
Non-commercial users can still use the centres for free.
Glenys Robinson, from Lancashire Waste Services, said the new system would make things simpler for most users. In the past, commercial vehicles visiting the centres have been charged £18.33 per visit.
But now users will be charged either £5, £10 or £15 depending on the size of the load.
This is payable on site or by using pre-paid tickets.
Glenys said: "We believe this is a much fairer system of charging and will work out cheaper for most users.
"The prices have been set to reflect the size of vehicles rather than to have a single charge for all trade vehicles.
"Hopefully, it will also encourage people to recycle their waste rather than taking it to landfill sites.
"The new charges will be rigorously enforced but some customers will be given discounts if they bring recyclable material to us."
