Lowe: 'We must restore Pride' at Rovers
11:00am Friday 12th October 2012 in News
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
JASON Lowe believes Blackburn Rovers’ trip to Derby County next weekend has become a ‘must-win’ game as he sets his sights on climbing back into the promotion shake-up.
Rovers’ academy product is part of the England Under-21 squad for the first leg of the Euro 2013 championship play-offs against Serbia in Norwich this evening.
With the second leg in Serbia on Tuesday, Lowe has a big few days ahead but knows Rovers also face a crucial period in their own Championship campaign.
After next Saturday’s trip to Derby County’s Pride Park, managerless Rovers entertain Sheffield Wednesday and Watford at the end of this month.
Lowe, 20, said: “Wolves was a disappointing result but we have to pick ourselves up and go again. It is a must-win.
“You could see the fans, you could feel the atmosphere before the game, it was more vibrant. But then we have to perform and it was a nip and tuck game but you have to stay in it.
“We should be winning those games but we need to regroup, go again and the next one is a must-win. There is plenty of time to regroup and freshen up. Three big, big games ahead. Derby is a good one to bounce back with.”
Rovers are now without a win in four games and have dropped out of the Championship play-off places after a solid start to the season.
The Ewood Park outfit have only lost two league games so far this campaign but performances have done little to impress.
“I didn’t think there was a lot in the Wolves game,” Lowe told Roversplayer. “You just have to keep plugging away when it is like that. It is a soft goal to concede.
“Sometimes we are thinking what do we need to do? We have changed the formation the last couple of games and in the first half at Nottingham Forest I thought we were pretty dominant. “We will keep plugging away and at some point it will click. We have too many quality players in the side for it not to.
“We will keep working and come back stronger.
“It is tight up there. Ideally we want to be in the top two. It is very, very tight and if you can put two or three wins together, which is easier said than done, it can change. You can’t fault the lads for their effort.
“Everyone is giving everything but maybe we aren’t getting the rub of the green. I thought we should have had a penalty against Wolves and Forest. You can’t use them as an excuse though because we didn’t create enough in open play.
“There is plenty of work to do on the training ground.”

Did we actually have a shot on target ?
Your a decent player Lowe and possibly our future captain but we all watched the Wolves games and we all saw how inept Black's tactics were.
5 At the back at home, disgrace.

I said, "But all the fans wanted someone with experience!" Shebby said "No, 13000 fans voted with their feet and supported Kean and he wasn't experienced. Only a few hundred voted in the LT. So you are wrong and we are right, the fans wanted an inexperienced manager to follow in the mould of Steve Kean."
I said, "So why have you not kept Eric Black? 17,000 voted for him?" Shebby said, "We really wanted to but we felt like a change."
I said, "So why Sherwood?" Shebby said, "He talks the talk. He's even better than Kean at talking the talk. He\s a positively brilliant manager. He is Mr Blackburn Rovers. He used to be captain and everyone respects him."
I said, "Just because he was captain does not make him a good manager. He will upset people when he drops them. It might become a Rovers of two halves, with one side for Sherwood and the other against him." Shebby said, "No, No, no. Tim has explained how easy it will be to get Rovers to win the Premier League. He's done it once and he promised me he would do it again."
I said, "How much will it cost Rovers?" Shebby said, "Because we have been so kind as to give him his chance to start on the managerial ladder, he is accepting the equivalent of managing a League Two side. At Rovers we have better facilities, he can continue to work as a pundit and he will get a £2million bonus for promotion. So he's doing it just for expenses."
I said, "So when does Tim start his new job?" Shebby said, "He's a bit busy at the moment but it will be soon. Eric Black will continue and also assist Tim next month when he has time to pop up from London."
So there you have it. All was revealed in my dream. It's done and dusted but they haven't got round to telling us yet. I hope Sherwood does better than he did in my dream in which... well, that's confidential. Shebby made me promise not tell the whole dream as it could influence his nogotiations for a lucrative job as a pundit on Sky.

Lowe is right when he says there is a lot to to do on the training pitch and the very first thing it to drill the team into holding their shape. Of course, someone is going to have to decide what that shape is to be and that clearly isn't going to come from the Black/Hendry combo.
As for not getting the rub of the green that is rubbish. If Rovers had't had the rub of the green against Charlton they would have lost the match and from what I have heard of other games that would be true of them too or they would have lost by a greater margin.
Lowe ought to give up telling the fans what are "must win" games. Just tell us instead when we have a game coming up That isn't a "must win" game. The last players that spent time telling the supporters what to think were Danny Murphy who has gone on to contribute nothing, and before him Bradley Orr, who is a legend in his own lifetime for being hopeless. Not a happy precedent to be following, Jason!

He is however right in saying it is time to bring pride back to Ewood, a new manager bringing the team together to play as a unit is the way forward.A wrong choice could be terminal.but there is no need to take so long to identify the new man and pursue his appointment.

hey. how about dunny for manager.he loves rovers, lives locally and is an ex player(apparently) lol.
He probably will be one day but that is a way in the future, asuming Rovers survive the mess they are in now.

I think that Dunny has been a good, loyal, if sometimes naive, Roverite and thought he was passed it...until I saw Murphy. At least Dunny DOES love Rovers. He's my tip for player manager when we go bust.
As to Lowe, the Rovers management just works its way through the gullable members of the team to make a "positive" statement each week.
