Blackburn Rovers will be fully focused on their task in hand at Leicester City but will be aware of scores elsewhere on final day.

John Eustace's side head to The King Power Stadium on Saturday knowing a point is enough to secure their status as a Championship club. Anything less and they could be relying on results elsewhere.

If Rovers lose, Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle would have to win whilst Sheffield Wednesday would need a point at Sunderland. It will be the task of one backroom member to stay across those crucial fixtures.

"Yes, it will be, we had that today," Keith Downing explained when asked whether someone would be in charge of keeping tabs the scores.

"Someone in the background will do that. We were aware of the scores, someone will be doing that.

"You have to focus on what is in front of you with the game but people will be passing on extra information.

"We started the day with it in our hands. We'd like it to be finished but it's not. It is now still in our hands though."

Crucially for Rovers, though, they have their fate in their own hands. They don't have to rely on favours elsewhere if they can get the job done.

That fact is crucial leading up to Saturday's game, in the view of Downing. He insists this week will be about normality and trying to keep the players relaxed before their final fight.

"The mindset is that it's in our control and it's in our hands. I think that is important," he said.

"It has been for a number of weeks, we are edging closer to the safety marker. There will be permutations as Saturday progresses.

"I think importantly, we feel like we are improving as a group of people and players. I think that's important to take into next week and continue the positivity.

"I think there has been a general positivity around the camp. I think the players have performed well in the majority of the games.

"We'll go there with confidence. There are lots of twists and turns that can happen and hopefully, we come out the right side."

"It would be a cliche to say everything is normal but we'll try and keep a normal process throughout the week," he added.

"They trained and had a good focus this week and we will make sure as staff that we maintain that next week. We will go in with a positive mindset.

"We went to Leeds and nobody gave us a chance there. We go there with some confidence."
