Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 7

Didn't have any saves of note to make but he was solid with handling and distribution.

Callum Brittain - 7

Provided plenty of thrust down the right side, particularly after the red card.

Hayden Carter - 7

Solid against Wright on that right flank. Won his individual battle.

Kyle McFadzean - 9

Didn't put a foot wrong on his return to the team. A really good performance.

Dom Hyam - 8

A far more solid performance from the captain. Didn't have any trouble down his side.

Harry Pickering - 7

Had so much space in the first half but wasn't used enough. Far more involved after the break and put in a beautiful cross that Gallagher headed just wide.

Sondre Tronstad - 7

Kept things ticking in the middle nicely. Won plenty of second balls.

Joe Rankin-Costello - 6

A few loose passes but got around the pitch well as usual. Taken off on the hour.

Sam Szmodics - 7

Will be gutted that he fired the rebound from Dolan's shot over in the first half.

Tyrhys Dolan - 7

Very unlucky not to score with a shot off the inside of the post.

Sam Gallagher - 7

Drew the challenge from Kitching which saw him sent off. Headed Pickering's cross just wide of the post.

Substitutes:

Yasin Ayari (Rankin-Costello, 63') - 8

His best performance in a Rover shirt. Made a real impact after coming on.

Ben Chrisene (Pickering, 72') - 6

Didn't have the impact Rovers wold have hoped in the final third.

Andrew Moran (Dolan, 88') - N/A

A late change.

Unused substitutes: Wahlstedt, Koumetio, Garrett, Buckley, Markanday, Telalovic.
