John Eustace was pleased with Blackburn Rovers' performance at Middlesbrough though he was frustrated not to take all three points.

Rovers drew their sixth match in eight Championship games after a goalless draw at The Riverside Stadium. It was an encouraging performance from the away side, who played some good football and created opportunities to win the game.

Boro had their chances too and arguably should've won it through substitute Sammy Silvera. But that would have been cruel on Rovers, who restricted an in-form side to very few clear-cut sights at Aynsley Pears' goal.

Reflecting on the performance, Eustace was happy with the progress his side have made. He'd, of course, have liked to have won the match but saw positives for the display.

"I thought with and without the ball we were outstanding," Eustace said.

"With and without the ball we were very good. We had a very good week on the training ground. We are really disappointed that we didn't win the game.

"We showed great character in difficult moments and got through that. We are disappointed not to win but I'm delighted we didn't lose.

"It's another draw, we want more wins, of course I do. But you can see the character that the group showed, it's there for everyone to see.

"I think the games we've had so far, however many you want to say, we have been committed. We've been unfortunate not to win more games but the most important thing for me is that the fans see that commitment week in, week out.

"With a bit of luck, we could've won the game. Unfortunately, it just didn't drop at the right times. We had a few chances in the first half, Seny (Dieng) pulled off some good saves.

"There are lots of positives to take. We played a very good team with a fantastic squad.

"Every game is difficult home and away, the important thing was Blackburn Rovers were very committed. We thought for every ball and didn't want to be defeated."

Rovers were backed by a vocal away end in Teesside, who provided plenty of noise and encouragement for the group.

"Since I've been here, the fans have been fantastic home and away," Eustace said.

"They have been very positive with the players and that's all I want. I want that connection with the players and the fans.

"Whatever is going on behind the scenes is nothing to do with the players. It's important the fans follow the players through thick and thin, the good and the bad times."
