A 100-year-old great-great grandmother celebrated her birthday with friends – a fellow centenarian and a 102-year-old.

Birthday girl Ivy Duckett was joined by friends Hilda Hudson, 100, and Alice Warner, 102, as she marked her landmark birthday at Longsworth House residential home in Ramsgreave.

The grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 13 and great-great-grandmother of four also celebrated with her son Gerald, 76, and daughter Patricia, 77.

Fomer housewife Ivy moved up to Walton-le-Dale from London with her family during World War Two.

She met her first husband, variety performer Arthur Lockhart, at a dance club.

Her second husband Tom Duckett was a car salesman in Preston.

Son Gerald Lockhart said: “She was always doing the Charleston when she was young.

"Although she’s a bit old for that sort of celebration now, I think she has still had a good birthday.”

Friend Hilda turned 100 in December last year. She grew up in Queen’s Park, Blackburn, and owned a confectionery shop with her husband Arthur. The couple had one daughter, Pat.

Mother-of-one Alice Warner celebrated her 102nd birthday in September.

The former mill worker and shoe shop assistant said: “It’s all right so long as you still have your sense about you. I have had a very good day today.”

It is the first time in 25 years that the Higher Ramsgreave Road home has hosted three residents over the age of 100.

Senior staff member Janet Currie said: “It’s very unusual.

"They are all very sprightly old ladies and keep us on our toes.”
