JAMES Ellison hits the big screen when his fortunes as a British Superbike rider are chronicled as part of a new feature film.

Ellison flies back from Texas where he has spent the festive period with his wife Sarah, this week to attend the premiere of the film at London’s Notting Hill ‘Electric Cinema’.

I Superbiker, which is set for release in the spring, follows Ellison and three other top riders Tommy Hill, Gary Mason and Josh Brookes. through their British Superbike tussle for the title.

The film likens the Superbike battle to a gladiatorial contest with the riders “risking life and limb at speeds of up to 200mph”, while at the same time focussing on the girlfriends, wives, team-mates and friends avidly following their rider’s progress.

The film’s publicity protrays the Kendal rider as: “The northern heartthrob who came second in 2009, and HAS to win to save his career.

“Newly married to his American sweetheart, he too has made incredible personal sacrifices to race, and now permanently lives in his mobile trailer in the remote Lake District to fulfil his dream of lifting the coveted crown.”

I Superbiker is directed by Mark Sloper (The Final Cut and Small-Time Obsession) and the film score is by David Vanian of the Damned, with music by Phil Collen of Def Leppard and Manraze.

Ellison left Superbikes to ride in this year’s Supersport World Championship as part of Bogdanka PTR Honda, a new Polish SWC race team that enters the 2011 championship for the first time.

His team-mate will be Pawel Szkopek with both men on PTR Honda CBR600RR machines.

LW Bogdanka is an undisputed leader in the Polish coal mining business, while PTR is well known in racing circles as the force behind the Parkalgar Honda World Supersport team that has won 12 out the 25 most recent WSS championship races.

Bogdanka racing director Michael Igor Piasecki said: “This partnership sees Poland’s first World Championship full-time race team and it is starting at the very highest level, with proven technical ability and a realistic chance to win a World Championship thanks to PTR.

“This is a partnership; it is not a sponsorship.

“PTR will help to operate and organise the team alongside Parkalgar Honda out of the same garage and there will be shared branding with the Parkalgar squad.

Ellison said: “I made the choice to ride for this team and in this Championship because I know I have the ability to win the World Championship.

“I could have taken different rides but I believe in this project and my only aim is to win the title - that gives me a strong platform to advance my World Championship career.”
