Letter: Cheers for the Thwaites horses

1:09pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

My children and grandchildren got a thrill from seeing and stroking these lovely, gentle animals (‘Shire horses from Blackburn's Thwaite's brewery to retire,’ LT, May 18).

Letter: We don't glorify... we remember

1:07pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

RE: Charity’s mission to repair Rossendale war graves, LT, May 18.

Letter: Applause for entertainment

1:03pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

What great news this is (‘Entertainer's plans for Padiham venue,’ LT, May 18).

Letter: A question of care for mum

1:02pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

I would like to ask Mr Hindle how my 90-year-old mother, who suffered a stroke three years ago, is bed-bound and has dementia, could look after her own health. She was recently admitted to RBH with dehydration and fortunately received the best of care from the nursing staff there.

Letter: Labour to blame for state of NHS

1:01pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

It's Labour who created a public sector which rewarded ineptitude with fat cat wages.

Letter: My cure for the health service

12:59pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

Can someone please explain to Mark Hindle the reason for the existence of hospitals? (‘Take care of your own health, says Lancashire NHS boss,’ LT May 20.) Perhaps if the government did something about immigration, the NHS wouldn't be under as much strain, unemployment wouldn't be so high, and taxes would be paid to help fund the NHS, instead of billions being paid in benefits to unemployed British workers.

Letter: Imports miss cup's value

12:57pm Tuesday 21st May 2013

Recently I wrote saying how the FA Cup Final had lost its magic and clubs didn’t really treat it with respect.

Comment: Make sure you have your say

2:50pm Monday 20th May 2013

THE levels of care received by patients in our hospitals is one subject which is guaranteed to provoke a debate.

Letter: It pays to talk about dying

2:48pm Monday 20th May 2013

Sadly, too many people die in hospital with little dignity. The option of dying at home is not available to everyone.

Hold the news - Becks has quit!

2:49pm Monday 20th May 2013

AS news broke on Twitter that David Beckham was retiring, I tweeted this: ‘Warning: David Beckham close to retiring. Prepare for ditching of other sports news on the day.’ ‘Sportsday’ on the BBC News Channel at 6.30pm was doubled in length to half an hour. Apart from the England football squad and Frank Lampard, it was Beckham, Beckham, and more Beckham.

Letter: Little chance for independents

2:47pm Monday 20th May 2013

Regarding the letter from ‘english rose 1’ (LT, May 14), the allowances for councillors may be one of the lowest in the country but it will not stop your so-called moaners saying their penny’s-worth.

Letter: More political dysfunction

2:48pm Monday 20th May 2013

Our democracy is mature in years yet immature in process and I have not got the faintest idea how we can assist the process in moving towards greater maturity.

Letter: Farewell was uplifting

2:47pm Monday 20th May 2013

The family of Dorothy McGregor would like to express their gratitude to all the hundreds of people, who attended her funeral on May 13.

Letter: Game at Ewood was boys' dream

3:58pm Friday 17th May 2013

I READ about Ian Pearson postponing his family’s holiday so he can play an amateur football match at Ewood Park (LT, May 15).

Letter: Public agrees on UKIP stance

3:57pm Friday 17th May 2013

Although MEP Chris Davies (right) was technically correct in his rather smug letter (‘Voters see through UKIP’ LT, May 8) the UKIP stance on the European Union is broadly in line with the general public.

Letter: Teachers should play it fairly

3:58pm Friday 17th May 2013

RE ‘East Lancashire parents to face fines for holidaying during term time’, this should only be brought in if the teachers are going to play fair.

Letter: Good intentions, negative results

3:57pm Friday 17th May 2013

I pass my condolences to all whose lives were positively affected by Maundy Relief founder Dorothy McGregor.

Letter: Power cuts explained

3:56pm Friday 17th May 2013

I would like to respond to the recent article and letters regarding the electricity supply in Blackburn.

Letter: Bad news from reading rooms

4:06pm Thursday 16th May 2013

libraries no longer have newspapers in their reading rooms, and what few magazines they have are redistributed around all the libraries.

Letter: We need more people-power

4:05pm Thursday 16th May 2013

ABOUT the story on the 300 residents marching in protest against plans to build new homes in Clitheroe – do the paltry turn-out figures for the recent Lancashire County Council elections (where the highest turnout was only 35%) not suggest that there is total apathy in East Lancashire (as in the rest of the country)?
