Antwerp is famous its cheese, beer, chocolates and diamonds, so it is little wonder that it is one of Europe’s growing tourist destinations.

But the Belgian city offers so much more..

From the fascinating Rubens House, featuring work by one of Europe’s most renowned and skilled painters, to the jaw-dropping Central Station, this is a city full of surprises.

So it is little wonder that BMI Regional has recently started regular flights from Manchester.

It is a great location for those with a sweet tooth, with chocolate shops dotted throughout the city, and restaurants that focus on desserts, including Desire de Lille, whose speciality waffles go down a treat.

If you’re starting to feel full a good walk will soon sort it out, and there is plenty to see and do, including a host of museums and galleries, as well as the glorious gothic cathedral.

But if you’re done with the sightseeing for one day then it is time to hit the city’s restaurants and bars.

Chic restaurants are available on the dockside, while the centre offers more vibrant eateries.

After an enjoyable meal it is time to sample some of those famous Belgian beers, including the local best sellers Duvel and De Koninck.

We stayed at the Hotel Leopold, famous for its large and comfortable beds.
