IT’S almost that special time of year when Scotland finds its sense of humour for a month, so a bit of the North East descended for some last minute show-tweaking.

Jason Cook's The Search for Happiness, the sequel to The End (part 1) which he toured last year, looked at what makes people truly happy.

Having seen the first show, I was desperate to watch this feel-good comic again. A great storyteller, I think I'd pay to see him if he wasn't doing comedy. Luckily though he is also hysterically funny.

His fond memories of ‘dinner Nannas’ (dinner ladies) and their knack of soaking up tears simply by hugging cracked me up. Just hearing the phrase ‘dinner Nannas’in a Geordie twang was funny enough.

The excitable Chris Ramsey bounced up next to enlighten the crowd with a few instalments of a Christmas newsletter he receives from a distant family member.

His show ‘Offermation’, the kind of useless information that gets thrust upon us in daily life, drew on experiences of living in the half-posh, half-backward Chorlton, as he described it, where robbers are judged less for committing the crime and more for the choice of spirits they steal, especially when it’s Malibu.

Judging by the audience volume, this Geordie duo seem more than ready to take on the Fringe.

If you’re venturing beyond the border, you’re guaranteed to smile if you bump into these guys.
