Lancashire Telegraph review by Kate Turner from January 17, 2011.
VISITING Eaves Hall for lunch as a potential wedding venue meant that a lot was riding on the quality of the food.
The Georgian building is impressive from the outset with an impressive driveway up to the imposing country house which has 13 acres of land.
For a lunchtime meal there is the option of eating in the bar area or in the lounge.
We tried out the bar which, although slightly dark from the wood panelling, was comfortable and nicely presented.
There is also a restaurant for formal evening meals and Sunday lunchtime meals.
The menu had a mix of panini, sandwiches and hot meals including fish and chips, pie and chips, pasta and sausage and mash.
I opted for the chicken, mature cheddar and bbq sauce panini for £5.95, my partner had Cumberland sausage with mashed potato and onion and redcurrant gravy for £8.75 and my son had ciabatta pizza and chips from the children’s menu at £3.95.
The large panini was oozing with bbq sauce while the chicken was tender.
My only complaint is that for £5.95 I would have expected it to come with more salad and crisps than the small amount that it was served with.
My partner said his Cumberland sausage was one of the best he has eaten, and my son’s meal was large and the ciabatta pizza was freshly made.
Overall the food was delicious but the meals could have benefited from extras to go alongside.
