DAVID King and Stacey Kemp will return to the drawing board after a disappointing performance in the inaugural Winter Olympic team figure skating event in Sochi.

The pair will return to action on Wednesday in the pairs event hoping to improve after Chorley’s Kemp fell during their routine on Thursday evening.

And King, who like Kemp trained at Blackburn Arena before the pair moved to America, is targeting an improvement for next week when the duo will be aiming to improve on their 16th place in Vancouver four years ago.

“We have a lot of work to do this next week before we compete in the individual event and hope to improve,” said King who together with Kemp attended Blackburn College.

He added: “In this event you can be living on a knife edge and be off balance and that is five or 10 points.

“Sunday is our rest day, so we have got a few more days to get back at it and see what we can figure out.”
