BLACKBURN boss Mark Hughes said there were plenty of positives' to take from last night's draw with Red Bull Salzburg - even though his side conceded a late equaliser to leave this UEFA Cup first round tie delicately poised.

Rovers looked to be on course for a 2-1 first leg win at the Red Bull Arena until Salzburg substitute Marc Janko struck deep into injury time.

Hughes said: "The result could have been better and we are disappointed with the final outcome.

"The tie should be over but it is still alive for both teams.

"They put plenty of long balls into the box at the end and perhaps we lost concentration.

"The tiredness started to creep in but there are plenty of positives to take as well as the fact we have two away goals.

"They have a chance but they will have to be very positive when they come to Ewood.

"It was pleasing to see how we battled back from a goal down."

Rovers had fallen behind to a 30th minute goal from Salzburg's leading scorer Alexander Zickler, but Robbie Savage and Benni McCarthy then struck back before turn to page 46 from back page Janko's late leveller.

Hughes said: "We're disappointed we conceded a goal in the last few seconds but I thought our general play was good.

"We created a lot of good movement in midfield areas, we retained possession very well throughout the game and it was only in the last 10 to 15 minutes when maybe the pressure of the longer ball into our box caused a little bit of momentum to change and Salzburg came more into the game."

Salzburg manager Giovanni Trapattoni said: "It was a very even game and I don't think we deserved to lose. "We created some good chances and we're looking forward to the second leg."
