Rossendale 57

Stockport 3

HAVING lost their opening two games Rossendale bounced back in some style to beat Stockport 57-3 at Marl Pits.

Running in a total of nine tries this was undoubtedly the side’s best performance so far and gives them something on which to build with far more stiffer challenges to come.

Curtis Strong entering the line from full back brought up the first try and from a pick up at the base of a five metre scrum by Ryan McKibbin with James Bramhall acting as the link, Rob Foxen went over for the second. Steve Nutt tagging on the conversion.

A break by Sam Atiola and pass from Bramhall put Nutt clean through and with George Peel and Jack Ward coming into the action Atiola came round again to take the scoring pass for the third.

A penalty by Stockport failing to find touch was run back by Foxen to create an opportunity for Jordan Lord to rack up the bonus score, Nutt again on hand with the extras.

With Rossendale now well on top Danny Collins put Atiola through, a tremendous hand off a highlight of the afternoon, Nutt slotting the conversion.

A kick through by Nutt got Strong over for his second and it was Strong again this time in for his hattrick with a break by Bramhall allowing McKibbin to join the party. Nutt kicked the conversion before rounding matters off with a solo try and conversion.

Stockport’s only score came from a penalty by Scott Redfern.
