CHORLEY have been handed a testing start to the new National League North season.

The Magpies, beaten in the play-off final last term, visit Kidderminster Harriers - who they beat in the semi-finals in May - in the season opener on Saturday, August 5.

And Matt Jansen's side then open their home season against the other beaten play-off semi-finalist in Salford City on Tuesday, August 8.

Chorley's first week is concluded with a home match against Curzon Ashton on Saturday, August 12.

The Magpies festive double header sees them host Southport, relegated from the National League last season, on Boxing Day before making the return trip to Merseyside on New Year's Day.

Chorley end the season at home to Alfreton Town on Saturday, April 28.

Chorley opened their summer schedule with a 3-1 win at Euxton Villa on Tuesday night with new signing Josh Wilson among the scorers.

Jansen's side continue their preparation for the new campaign with a home match against Championship new boys Bolton Wanderers at Victory Park on Saturday (3pm). Entry is £5 but free for accompanied under-12s.
