LAURA Massaro's bid to win the Windy City Open in Chicago is over after the World No.1 was beaten in the last four by Nour El Sherbini.
East Lancashire ace Massaro had been in fine form during the tournament but found her Egyptian opponent too hot to handle in the semi-finals as the number five seed completed a 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 victory in 36 minutes.
Massaro struggled to gain a foothold in the match in the opening two games despite El Sherbini struggling with flu.
And the Hoghton star looked to have turned a corner when she led 7-4 but El Sherbini fought back to secure the victory.
After the defeat Massaro said on social media: "Gutted to lose out but a few big moments were key. Back to some training now before the British Open."
