BLACKBURN Harriers have just missed out on runners-up spot in the Northern Track and Field League Division One.

The club went into the final at Wakefield with an outside chance of clinching the title.

But in the end it was hosts Wakefield District Harriers who came out on top in the overall standings with Kingston upon Hull AC pushing their East Lancashire rivals into third.

Great Britain international Alison Leonard was in action for the Harriers and she won the 400m (55.10secs) and 800m (2mins 8.6secs) and set a personal best in the 200m (25.90secs).

In a high quality A hammer competition Rebecca Orrell took third place with a throw of 41.5m as well as finishing second in the A discus (25.74m) and B javelin (19.38m).

Jack Vickery just missed out on winning the A hammer by 13cm, taking second with 40.36m.

Simon Brown threw 38.88m to finish second in the A discus. He also finished third in the A shot with 11.56m.

Oliver Aspden had a good win the 400m hurdles (58.8secs). Katie Buckingham was third in the A 400m hurdles (68.2secs) and second in the 100m hurdles (17.6secs).

Jack Hindle came third in the A 3,000m steeplechase (10mins 41.8secs), with Dave Almond winning the B race in 11mins 27.4secs.

Rob Warner was third in the A 800m 2mins 0.2secs) and first in the B 1,500m (4mins 3.9secs).

Zac Howe won the B 800m (2mins 0.3secs) and Karl Billington was second in the A 1,500m (4mins 3secs) and first in the 5,000m B (16mins 49.2secs).

Gary Priestly crossed the line in second in the A 5,000m (15mins 44.5secs).

And there were also second-placed finishes for Grace Handley in the A 1,500m (4mins 57.3secs), and Rachel Wood, in the B 1,500m (5mins 23.8secs).
