BARLICK Fell Runners dominated Burnley’s Towneley 10k race, with the club boasting three out of the first four runners home.

Race winner Marc Hartley showed the 157 strong field a clean pair of heels and won his race comfortably from team mate Tom Corrigan in second.

Hartley had pulled a good lead out by the summit of Mount Lane and stretched it out further on the return to the park hitting the tape in 33 minutes and 52 seconds.

Corrigan was comfortably second (35.04) with Andy Berry (36.34) showing his continued good form and nearly making it a one, two, three at the finish for Barlick.

However, young Jacob Watson (36.22) of Clayton Harriers had other ideas, and reeled Berry in on the last mile to claim third.

Trawden’s Dale Grimshaw ran superbly to finish fifth in 37 minutes and four seconds.

Barlick’s Andy Carson also enjoyed a cracking run, finishing sixth overall, posting 37 minutes 26 seconds.

Peter Wilkinson won the vet 65 category in his second appearance in a Barlick vest.

Jen Hird finished fourth lady – but Clayton Harriers’ Laura Hesketh was first lady home.

She claimed 21st place overall with a time of 40 minutes 37 seconds.

Clayton Harriers are in good form, and with Watson claiming third place, four of their runners finished in the top 10.

Russ Clarke was seventh in 38 minutes 24 seconds with M55 vet John Hartley, ninth (38.37), and Paul Hesketh in tenth (38.45).

First home for Accrington Road Runners was vet M55 Paul Gallagher in 39 minutes 23 seconds, while Gary Pearce, Blackburn AC, was just one place in front, clocking 39 minutes 15 seconds.

A little bit further down the field, Clayton Harriers vets Michael O’Donnell and Sean Clare both finished inside the top 30.

M40 vet O’Donnell was home in 23rd place, clocking 40 minutes and 42 seconds while Clare was in 29th position with a time of 41 minutes 42 seconds.

Also inside the top 30 and second lady was Autumn Howard from Trawden AC, crossing the line in 41 minutes and 2 seconds.

Claire Vincent was not far behind, with the Clayton Harriers runner finishing 36th, clocking 42 minutes and 47 seconds.

M55 vet Peter Sagar could be proud of his effort too, taking 37th place (42.48) while Anthony Booth, Trawden, was home in 50th place (44.31).
