BLACKBURN Harriers hammer thrower Sophie Hitchon has today broken her own British record with a throw of 70.40 metres.
Competing in the first event to be held at UK Athletics' new indoor throws centre at Loughborough, Burnley-born Hitchon added 81 centimetres to her previous record set last year.
The throw moves the 20-year-old from East Lancashire to joint fourth in the world rankings in 2012.
