BIKE racer Lance Cronshaw is in for a testing time in 2015 – and he’s delighted.

The Great Harwood-based rider finished third overall in this season’s hotly-contested Ace of Aintree Championship.

Riding his Bob Wright Racing Yamaha R6, Cronshaw put in an impressive performance in the four rounds he contested, winning all his qualifying races, and finishing in the top five of the points races.

But Cronshaw and his team have identified where they can make up ground next year.

“Lance contested four out of five rounds this year, but we had no budget to go testing,” said Lance’s dad and team manager, Philip.

“That meant he only sat on the bike for four days, and that’s not enough.

“We missed that this year, but an anonymous benefactor has come forward to help with a couple of track days before the season starts.”

Cronshaw will also have a new bike for 2015, as well as his Yamaha R6.

“We raced in two classes, the 600cc and up-to-1300cc, using an 600cc R6,” says Phillip.

“But in the 1300cc class we are up against one-litre bikes.

“Bob Wright, who has been a long-time supporter and fantastic sponsor, has bought a 1000cc Honda Fireblade for Lance to use in that class and the extra power should put him on a par with everyone else.

“As ever, we couldn’t do any of this without our supporters, and we can’t thank them enough.”

n Lance Cronshaw would like to thank: All the staff and marshals at Aintree, Bob Wright, Jason Lavender at Miller Oils, Christine Dixon at Cranberry Coaches, Dave Holden, Martin Thompson, Tony Holmes Engine Tuners, Blackburn, S&B Tippers, Great Harwood, Richard at Maxton Suspension, Tony Morris at CSM, Blackburn, Hyndburn Commercial Painters, Great Harwood, his mum and dad, Philip and Christine, and his very tolerant wife, Samantha.

All the top riders, including the champion, went testing beforehand and that makes all the difference.

That will allow us to get the bike prepped and sorted so that we can hit the ground running.”

Hopefully, we can repay them with another place on the podium in 2015.”
