SUNDAY night was just what we needed, with a win and a clean sheet to boot.

We put right a lot of things that we wanted to from the previous weekend - although we’re still not quite there, but I think that will come in time.

Last week against Telford Tigers we were a bit sloppy but we trained well in the week and took that into the weekend against Sutton Sting.

One thing we still need to work on is upping our strike rate. We’re creating plenty of chances - last weekend it was 80-plus, this weekend it was 70-plus, but on both occasions we have only scored five.

The good thing is we are creating those chances - it would be more of a worry if we weren’t, but we need to put more away.

We are obviously getting into the right areas, it’s just a case of bearing down and seeing things out.

We scored on the penalty kill through Adam Brittle and ended the first period with a slender 1-0 lead.

Aaron Davies made it 2-0 and a David Meikle goal made it 3-0 before the end of the second period.

Adam and Aaron both went on to score their second of the game to complete a 5-0 scoreline, with Sutton offering little in return, causing us very few problems.

But on the plus side every single line seems to playing well,we are getting goals on every line which is something we’ve never really had before, and I’ve noticed that players who were short on confidence have got that this year.

Dan MacKriel - or Budzie as we call him - has drilled that in, and things seem to be going well in his new role in charge of the team, and in turn for us. We are all singing from the same hymn sheet.

We’ve got a free weekend coming up, so we will train as normal on Thursday and then have a few days’ rest to conserve our energy for the start of double-game weekends which will be starting soon.
