BLACKBURN Hawks head coach Daniel MacKriel believes the re-signing of skipper Chris Arnone for the 2015-16 season is a real statement of intent from the club.

Arnone, captain for the past four seasons, has signed on for next season and MacKriel is pleased with the news.

“This is a massive re-signing for the Hawks,” said MacKriel.

“I’m delighted he is back to captain the side and really looking forward to working with him.

“We are delighted to have secured Chris for another season.

“He had a great season last year and was the standout D Man in league throughout the year.

“He leads the team very well, wears his heart on his sleeve and is someone who can help us to achieve our goals for next season.

“He sees the ice very well, skates well and is tough to beat one on one.”

Arnone skippered the team to the league and play-off double last season.

Meanwhile, Hawks will be holding open trials later this month on Sunday, June 21 and Saturday June 27 at 4.45pm.

Anyone interested in attending needs to register their interest on the club’s website.
