SEXY football is coming to Ewood Park in the form of Blackburn Rovers' new striking ace.

Roque Santa Cruz, a 25-year-old Paraguayan centre forward, has bolstered Mark Hughes' attack by signing from Bayern Munich this weekend.

And while supporters are hoping he can get the goals to keep Rovers flying high in the Premiership, it is female fans who may give him the most attention.

Santa Cruz was voted the sexiest player at last year's World Cup by readers of German magazine Kicker.

He was also chosen by the German newspaper Die Welt as the sexiest footballer of the 2006 World Cup.

As well as being a pin up boy, Santa Cruz has other off-field talents.

In 2004 the striker teamed up with German rock band Sportfreunde Stiller to sing the words "Ich, Roque" in the song with the same title - a pun on the phrase "I rock." He has also appeared on the cover of the German version of the cult video game Pro Evolution Soccer 6.

Meanwhile, female fans attending Rovers 4-0 Intertoto Cup win against FK Vetra at Ewood Park on Saturday thought they had got their first glimpse of Santa Cruz.

He was introduced over the tanoy as the big screen flashed to a picture of a dark-haired man in the directors' area of the Jack Walker Stand.

Supporters around the ground applauded to welcome their new star, but the man on the screen was in fact Ryan Beamish, son of former Rovers player, Ken!

Santa Cruz was not at the game.

He signed for an undisclosed fee, however, it is understood he will cost in the region of £3.8million.

Off the pitch the Paraguayan is married with two children.

He wed his former national team-mate Ricardo Tavarelli's sister Giselle in 2004.

He has one son, Tobias, three, one daughter, Fiorella, 19 months.
