POTTERS ‘A’ start the new year on top of the Premier Office Supplies Division One in the Blackburn and Darwen Snooker League after drawing with bottom-placed Mill Hill ‘B’.

Liam Cooper got the visitors off to a good start beating Potters captain Jake Fuller but the ever consistent Dion Holcroft levelled immediately.

Cooper and Walt Jarvis then teamed up to beat Holcroft and partner Murad Iqbal but Potters levelled again when Iqbal beat Jarvis.

Colin Murphy shocked Ibby Khan to put Mill Hill ahead again and Mick Killilea and Lol Prior made it 4-2. Haider Ali made it 4-3 when he beat Killilea and the youngster Ali Khan played a mature frame against the veteran Prior to ensure it ended honours even.

Park have been getting better and better in recent weeks but had to settle for a draw against Hoddlesden Con Club. Ste Aspinall got Park off to a winning start before Rob Wong equalised for Hoddlesden. Aspinall and Ash Taylor took the first pairs but Hoddlesden hit back again with another good showing from Jim Ollerton. Dave Fenwick continued his good run with a win over Ash Taylor but a doubles win for Mick Almond and Mark Jennings put Park back in it.

Baz O’Kane was too much for new boy Bernard Goulding but a classy win for Jake Loftus in the last secured the draw for Hoddlesden.

Fox & Hounds started the new year in style with a 5-3 win over champions Rishton Con. Lee Entwistle took the opener against Alan Heaton. Scott Morris took full advantage of the handicap to beat Nathan Bridges but Bridges and partner Mick Burns took the pairs.

Rishton new boy Luke Austin lost to Aaron Keen but Lee Steele made it 3-2 with a good win over Mick McHugh. Gaz Hampson and Craig Steele levelled it in the pairs but Derek Haworth and Simon Ashe took the last two frames to seal the victory.

Mill Hill A’s good run was ended by visitors Feniscowles A who emerged 5-3 winners.
