HASLINGDEN St Mary’s will be looking to extend their winning start to the campaign when they return to Division One action against Stoneclough in Greater Manchester tomorrow.

Warren Hemmingway’s men edged past Cumbrian opposition Milnthorpe Corinthians by a single goal last weekend, building on their 3-1 success at Mill Hill St Peters on the opening day of the season.

Meanwhile, Haslingden’s second string re-wrote the record books in midweek, racking up a remarkable 17-0 win at Ladybridge.

Paul Hooper netted seven times, Wayne Duxbury four and Connor Smith hit a hat-trick as Haslingden’s reserves ran riot, scoring 11 times in the second half without reply.

Mill Hill suffered another defeat last weekend, though, 4-2 at CMB.

Andy Scholes and Chris Hayes netted for Mill Hill, but CMB were always in control and ran out comfortable winners.

Mill Hill are also in action tomorrow when they face Wyre Villa at Hillgate Park.

Hurst Green showed the way in Division One, with Joshua Briggs firing a first-half goal double while Scott Craven was also on the mark in a 3-2 win at Dalton United.

In the Premier League, Lee Ashcroft’s Longridge United left it late at Hesketh Bank, Joe Melling netting an injury-time winner after Alex Rendell had put them ahead before half time Eagley were big winners, with former Preston North End and Bury midfielder Simon Whaley netting in a 4-0 victory over Whitehaven.

In Division Two, Hurst Green Reserves were held at home 3-3 by Thornton Cleveleys.

In Division Three, Brian Walton netted for Mill Hill St Peters but they were edged out 3-2 at home by Milnthorpe Corinthians.
