LOWERHOUSE Under11s got one over their old rivals when they beat Burnley to win the Lancashire Junior Cup.

In what was a fine all-round performance in the kwik cricket format of the game, Dec Metcalfe top scored with an unbeaten 26 while Joel Sharpe and Henri Cottom also batted superbly, scoring 23 and 20 not out respectively.

Keagan de Vries added 15 as Lowerhouse finished on 288-7.

Oliver Spendlove took 2-4 as Burnley scored 216-7.

And the talented team are also through to the semi finals of the LCB Cup after beating Chorley.

All-rounder Metcalfe showed he was just as good with the ball in hand with an impressive spell, backed up by a good effort from Rory McCormack, as Chorley finished on 217-6.

Lowerhouse eased through after posting 242-3 from their allotted overs.

The LCB all county finals day will take place at Highfield CC on September where they will play in the afternoon semi-final.

The joint Lowerhouse and Burnley CC District 11s team are also through to the LCB U11 District semi-final where they will play Chorley.

George Durkin scored an unbeaten 26 as the Under 11s Cubs beat Darwen. His efforts helped Lowerhouse to a 222-6 total while Troy Richmond took 2-2 as Darwen scored 206-7.

The win made up for an earlier defeat against Rawtenstall where Hanif Shah (2-2) was the pick of the Lowerhouse bowlers.

Grace Johnson and Jack Edgar both scored unbeaten knocks of 10 as Lowerhouse Koalas (259-1) beat Haslingden (211-4).

Hanif Shah once again bowled well, taking 3-5 while Owen Brodie took 2-0.

The Koalas also beat Nelson Under 11s - Harvey Elliott (2-9) and Alfie Hawke-Thompson (2-19) - the pick of the bowlers.

n Joseph Halstead scored an unbeaten century for Lancashire against Cheshire while Georgie Holt followed up on her half century for Read Ladies with a 110 not out for Lancashire against Nottinghamshire at Mansfield.
