LOWERHOUSE Panthers Under 13s have reached the final of the LCB Cup after a wonderful display to beat Burscough at Bury Cricket Club.

Chasing Burscough’s total of 94-5, the Panthers produced a fine all-round batting display as they finished on 95-4.

James Bridge led the way with an unbeaten 20 but Aman Singh and Ibrahim Rehman both scored 19 and Jack Spence weighed in with an important 10 runs.

Lowerhouse will play Greenmount in the final who beat Longridge in their semi final and club chairman Stan Heaton was delighted to see the young team reach the final.

“Make no mistake, this is a wonderful achievement by the team and coaches,” said Heaton. “This is a competition for the whole of Lancashire so well done to Jim Heaton and the team who have beaten some very good sides along the way.”

The Panthers had reached the last four with a thrilling last ball victory over Whalley Range. The Cheshire County League team posted a formidable target of 136-4 but House stayed within touching distance, albeit scoring below the required run rate.

With 20 needed off the last two overs, a couple of wickets were lost and 14 runs were needed off the last over.

New batsman Anthony Barret hit a four and a single to get established batsman Aden Aurangzeb back on strike.

With eight runs needed off the last three balls, Aden struck a four before the Whalley Range bowling bowled a dot ball meaning that a four was needed off the last ball.

But Aden, who finished unbeaten on 29, duly drove the ball through mid-wicket to record a famous victory.

Lowerhouse Under 17s slipped to defeat against Rishton.

Batting first, Rishton scored 130-6 with Jack Moodie (3-26) the pick of the House bowlers.

In reply, despite the best efforts of Dec Stansfield, who scored 51, Lowerhouse finished on 112-9.

Harry Wheatcroft (22), Ethan Laraway (19), Ross Birchall (14), Jack Moodie (13no) and Brad Wright (10) all did their bit with the bat.

George Durkin scored 34 as the Under 11s Koalas rattled up 265-1 as they beat Bacup who scored 218-4.

And Tayor de Vires took 2-1 and Isa Nadeem scored an unbeaten 12 as the Under Nines (231-4) beat Rishton (211-6).
