Naomi Hartley has just had her first taste of international football after being called-up to the England Under 15 squad.

The Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College student has been with Manchester United for more than 18 months after being scouted while playing for Burnley and Blackburn Ladies.

And the centre back got a call-up to go to Germany with the England Under 15 team this week.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Burnley fan Naomi, who is 15. “I had been on England training camps and I was on one recently at Loughborough.

“My friend had got an email saying she had been selected for England and I saw I had an email and couldn’t believe it when it said I was in. I was shocked. It’s a real honour.”

Naomi trains with Manchester United twice a week, and plays at weekends, but it will go up to three times a week next year.

“It is really competitive but I enjoy it,” said Naomi. “My dream is to get a football scholarship to America and play professional football.”
