ROSSENDALE moved to within a point of fourth place Wirral in National League Three North following a 13-try thrashing of Burnage at Varley Park.

James Bramhall crossed for the first after good ball from the line out and quickly added a second again through swift hands, Steve Nutt slotting the conversion.

Burnage came back with a converted try but the Rossendale ‘juggernaut’ was to prove unstoppable as Lewis Allen, with a show of individual brilliance, brought up the third.

A break by Paddy Pole put Chris Frodsham in for the bonus score. Nutt brought up the fifth with Allen closing the half with his second and the visitor’s fifth. Nutt was successful with three more conversions.

In the second period, Jamie Albinson crossed for the seventh try and it was the scrum half who provided the pass to get Nutt over for the eighth.

Albinson added the ninth himself before creating the opportunity to get George Peel to go over in the corner to make it double figures.

Leighton Taylor made it 11 from a catch and drive, Peel again from good line out ball made it 12 and Allen closed proceedings to bring up his hat-trick after the pack had turned over possession.

Nutt added one more conversion and Allen two.
