IT WAS goals galore in the Blackburn Sunday football league with no less than 73 goals being scored in the 11 games played.

And it was Crown Paints who led the goal-scoring charts with a emphatic 11-1 over Beehive in Division One to maintain their fine start to the season.

The win maintains the Darwen side’s unbeaten start to the season having won three and drawn one of their league matches to date to rise to second in the table.

But they remain two points adrift of leaders Mill Hill, who enjoyed a comfortable 6-0 win over Whinney Hill who have lost two of their first three games.

Clifton, in third place, were also among the goals, beating bottom of the table Station 5-2 to keep pace with the top two.

In Division Two, leaders Whinney Hill Colts’ promotion charge remains on course after they made it six wins out of six with a 4-1 win over league new boys Park FC in their Hyndburn derby.

Park, from Great Harwood who joined from the Accrington Combination, have had a steady start to the season and scored a wonderful goal through Jake Lloyd.

Colts are now six points ahead of Hare and Hounds who were not in action but have a game in hand.

Mid-table Stanley Ultras enjoyed an impressive win as they came from behind to triumph 4-3 against third-placed Craven Heifer.

It gave fourth-placed Oswaldtwistle Immanuel the chance to close the gap on Heifer as they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Stanhill WMC.

The Anchor claimed their first league win of the season - a fine 3-1 victory over Brownhill Arms.

In Division Three, The Crown got their first league points with a 5-2 win over Prince of Wales to climb off the bottom of table.

There seems to be no stopping league leaders Rosehill, who carried on their winning streak, the latest a 5-2 win over Sunnybank to make it seven wins out of seven.

Second-placed Entwistle bounced back from last week’s defeat to run out 3-0 winners over Rishton Rangers.

They remain six points behind the leaders and three ahead of Ewood Blues, who have forced themselves into the promotion chasing group with an emphatic 8-3 win over Brown Cow - with Dean Jones scoring his second hat-trick in three games.

Meanwhile, the draw for the second round of the Blue & White Rosebowl as been made and cup holders Clifton have been draw against in-form Division Three side Entwistle.

Intack, last season’s runners-up face Division Three leaders Rosehill.
