STONYHURST St Mary’s Hall’s talented netball team have won the U11s St Pius Netball Tournament - and the Metcalf twins played their part in the victory.

Lucy and sister Hannah, both aged 10, were named attacking and defending players of the tournament after the super Saints beat Kirkham in the final.

The girls started off the tournament with a 6-1 victory over The Buchan, and went on to defeat Lady Barn School and Richmond House in the group stages, winning 11-4 and 4-2 respectively.

They then went on to play The Grange in the quarter finals, beating them 6-2.

In the semi-finals, it was a showdown with a strong King’s Macclesfield side but St Mary’s managed to sneak a narrow 4-2 victory.

And the Ribble Valley team completed a memorable day by beating Kirkham 3-1 in the final.
