GOLDEN boot Brad Carsley can’t stop scoring as his hat trick fired Longridge Town into second place in the Premier Division.

Carsley scored four times in Town’s 10-1 midweek win over bottom club Lostock St Gerards and followed up with another three goals as Lee Ashcroft’s red hot team swept aside Vickerstown at Chipping Road.

Andy Higginson had fired the Cumbrians ahead in the sixth minute, but then the league’s top scorer netted twice in three minutes before half-time.

Ryan McKenna added another four minutes after the break - before Carsley completed his hat trick on the hour.

Burnley United suffered another defeat, but they gave Blackpool Wren Rovers a real run for their money as a second half revival nearly rescued them a point at Bruce Park.

Burnley went behind early on, and when Danny Morris and Jordan Douthwaite found the net before half-time it looked a lost cause for the visitors.

However, David Patrick’s strike on the hour gave Burnley hope and when Joe Rodrigues added another minutes later, Burnley were back in the contest.

And Burnley drew level in the 75th minute when Steve Riley struck to level the scores.

However, Blackpool grabbed the winner when Jack Sharples struck late on to deny Burnley a point.

Champions Charnock Richard are back on top and the title favourites saw David Burrows, Carl Grimshaw and David Prout all on the mark in a routine 3-0 win over Southport Hesketh.

In League One, Haslingden St Mary’s registered their first league win of the season, Michael Saunders and Isaac Wilde on the mark against Dalton United at South Shore Street.

Hurst Green, though, have endured a wretched start to the new campaign and a 3-1 home defeat to Hawcoat Park saw the Ribble Valley men sink to the foot of the table.

Pat Allington set the tone – scoring in the first minute for the Cumbrians – before Chris Byrne levelled it for Hurst Green four minutes before half time.

Then Carl Pearson and Nathan Reid struck late in the game to sentence Hurst Green to their third defeat in four starts this term.

Also in Division One, Liam Bell netted twice for Mill Hill St Peters, but they surrendered a two goal advantage as Ladybridge hit back through Nick McGinley and Nathan Monson.

In Division One Reserves, Fulwood Amateurs thrashed Hurst Green 6-1, while in Division Two Reserves Mill Hill also tasted defeat, 4-2 at Lytham Town.
