PLEASINGTON Golf Club junior James Andrews showed he was a cut above when he secured his Lancashire age-group title.

The 13-year-old won the Lancashire Boys Under 14 Championship held at Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on Monday, August 3.

The youngsters played off the white tees at the Merseyside club and it was Andrews who held his nerve to claim the silverware.

His score of 70 (Nett 64) beat Matthew Jackman (Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club) by one shot in the gross event.

Both James and Matthew have been on the Lancashire Under 14’s Regional Training programand James has already reduced his handicap from 13 to six.

Harry Lord, from Rossendale Golf Club, finished in fourth place, with a 74, while Chorley’s Ryan Anderson was 19th with 80.

Another Rossendale member, Alex James, was 23rd of the 40 starters.
