THE Year 3/4 Football Festival took place at Feniscowles recreation ground on Wednesday 8th July. 16 Teams entered the 6-a-side competition, where teams were split into 4 groups of 4 and played each other in a round robin format. The group winners then progressed to the semi-finals

Group winners were The Redeemer A, St Francis, Feniscowles and Lower Darwen

Lower Darwen played Feniscoels in the 1st semi-final and 2 outstanding goal keeping displays meant the game finished 0-0 so went into Golden-Goal extra time. Feniswcolwes manged to finally beat the Lower Darwen Goal keeper to progress to the final.

St Francis had a more comfortable match against The Redeemer as they won by 3 goals to nil, with their captain Aaron Eccles the stand out player

So the final was a local derby between St Francis and Feniscowles. Feniscowles scored early and eventually proved too strong for a spirited St Francis team and triumphed by a score of 3-1 to be crowned Year 3/4 Champions for the 3rd year running.

I would like to thank Fenny Reccers football club for hosting the competition in particular Mike Caton and thank Young Referees from St Bede's RC High School who did an amazing job refreeing all of the matches
