MORE than 600 people attended Readstone United’s first annual junior fun day tournament last Saturday with around 200 children taking part. Players aged from 7 up to 11 years old with the emphasis on the day of having fun playing the nation’s favourite sport. All children attending the day received a participation trophy with Rishton United Under 11s taking the winner’s trophy in the older age category. Mums, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents were all entertained throughout the day as Readstone put on hot food, cake stalls, tombolas, inflatables and even the ice cream made an appearance on what was one of the hottest days of the year so far for the North West. Organising the event for Readstone John Leaver commented “It’s been a huge success for the club and we’ve had so many people commenting on how much the kids enjoyed themselves. We’d just like to thank all the teams that took part for playing in the right spirit of the tournament and making it a good day out for all the families who turned up to support the children.”
