THE North Valley and Burnley Unity Youth League has brought the curtain down on another successful season but it is already looking ahead to the next campaign.

The league, which provides football for boys and girls aged from under sevens to under 17s, is now inviting teams to enter for the 2015/16 season - especially girls under nines and under 10s teams.

The current campaign was brought to a close by its end of season cup finals held at Prairie Playing Fields and Towneley Park.

The last wave of finals saw the girls battle it out for the silverware.

In the Under 12s Cup, Accrington Girls and Ladies FC ran out 3-0 winners against Feniscowles and Pleasington Juniors.

However, the Blackburn team had something to celebrate when Feni and Pleasi beat Badgers 5-0 to win the Under 12s Consolation Cup.

In the Under 13s Cup final, Cadley came out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Langho Juniors, eventually winning 5-2.

Accrington Girls and Ladies FC failed to make it a cup double after they lost in the final of the Under 14s Consolation Cup, losing 3-1 against Haslingden.

And in the Under 15s Consolation Cup final, Bolton Wanderers Girls beat Euxton 6-2.

The league will host a Non Competitive Football Fun Day for the younger age groups which will be held on Sunday, June 21.

It was back in the summer of 2013 that two junior football leagues announced they they would merge to help secure their future and provide more competitive football across the region.

The North Valley Friendly League and the Warburton Youth League joined forces and have played under the new name for the last seasons.

Any teams wishing to join the league should contact Ged Cowgill on 01282 429373.

n The league's presentation evening will be held at the James Hargreaves Suite, Turf Moor on Sunday, June 4.
