Bank Quay Bulls 36 Accrington 30

ACCRINGTON Panthers made the short journey to Cheshire hoping for a successful away-day performance.

However, Accrington’s first league fixture after a five week break saw them edged out by the narrowest of margins.

The Panthers had three tries chalked off - and a yellow card in the second half – and that all but ended their hopes of a favourable result.

But even though The Bulls broke the deadlock early on with a gifted try, it was the Panthers who responded in style.

Mark Fisher and full back Zach Child, making his first appearance of the season, landed a try double.

Indeed, Accrington finished the half in full control of the game, substitute Leon Fifield picking up a loose ball to score with a breakaway try.

However, the second period saw Warrington charge ahead with a flurry of points.

While former Academy star Nick Martin led by example in the pack, his explosive runs causing Warrington problems, the Bulls continued to dominate.

Child reduced the arrears with just minutes left to keep Accy in the hunt, but it wasn’t enough.
