Alex Evans kick-started the rout in the third minute, after Jordan Pearson had provided the ammunition and another try quickly followed, Rick Maudsley gathering the ball before the try line to touch down in the corner.

Maudsley then turned provider for Corless, and Jake Maher added the extras.

Matt Hughes was next to cross the line and when Sean Hall added another try a few minutes later - Jake Maher kicking over - then ‘Burn were out of sight.

Maudsley needed no second invitation to land his second try shortly afterwards as the Cumbrian defence opened up again. Hughes then grabbed his second score, and it was another moment to savour for the home faithful.

From the scrum, Ethan Ridge tidied up and passed to Hughes, who sprinted on to score.

Hall went in again after Sam Parkinson and Corless combined, and Hall celebrated a hat trick of tries on the stroke of half time to push the score to 57-0.

Pearson was next to put his name on the scoresheet, barging through to score and Jake Maher converting.

Mark Maher then fed his brother Jake who just had enough pace to go on and score under the posts.

Hughes then hit the hat trick trail himself, cruising in to score with Jake Maher kicking over.

On the hour, Wringe recycled the ball and Nick King needed no second invitation, going low to score. King was in the groove now and five minutes later he was celebrating his second try as Blackburn piled on the agony for the visitors.

The next score saw Mark Maher provide the opening, a chip over the Hawcoat backs leaving their defence at sixes and sevens, and Wringe’s power and pace did the rest to run on and score from just outside the 22.

From the re-start, King caught and made ground. Evans then took charge from the ten metre line, and although his barnstorming run was halted short of the line, he spread the ball out to Corless for his second try.

Mark Maher touched down soon after and with just two minutes left, Maudsley and Ben Renton combined, and Wringe was on hand to score again.

Blackburn stay level points with Leigh iat the top and host St Benedicts on Saturday.
