OAKHILL College hosted the inaugural inclusive sports event for the Hyndburn and Ribble ValleySchool Sports Association.

Year 10 and 11 pupils completed training sessions with Jane Johnson, the HRV school games organiser and partnership manager.

Pupils took part in a variety of sports such as boccia, wheelchair basketball, fencing and a range of target games.

The ports leaders from the Whalley College catered for a range of needs including children who were partially sighted, wheel chair users, some with learning and processing difficulties.

“Pupils learnt how to adapt various sports in order to make them an inclusive and enjoyable experience for each and every child involved,” said Oakhill College spokesman Suzanne Spencer. “Jane was overwhelmed with how the event went and how caring, attentive and polite our pupils were when working with our guests invited from schools across the association.

“Due to the event running so well we have been asked to host another in May and all of our leaders have been highly commended.”
