Westoe 41 Rossendale 12
WHEN Rossendale forgot to pack the kit they must have realised it wasn’t going to be their day.
The Marl Pits side, travelled to lowly Westoe on the back of seven straight wins but depleted of several key players.
Johann Goosens, Ryan McKibbin and Tom Stock were absent from the pack through injury with Tom Albinson and Steve Nutt not featuring in the backs.
And matters were made worse when captain Jamie Albinson limped off after just five minutes.
And so it proved to be so and although the youngsters who came in competed right to the end the home were unable to stem the tide of a home side who played with their ‘tails up’ right from the kick off.
Alex Isherwood scored a first half try for Dale whch was converted by James Bramhall but Westoe led 19-7 at half time.
Three yellow cards to Simon Walker, Leyton Taylor and Isherwood proved costly as Westoe took full advantage and added a further 15 points.Taylor pulled one back, ploughing over from an attacking line out, but the hone side were not to be denied.
