Burnley’s Sandygate Amateur Boxing Club recently made the not so long trip to Bacup at the Rossendale ABC first ever club show.

First up was a non decision bout of skill featuring James Danson, 13 against A Khan from Middleton Select ABC.

All three rounds saw the Year 9 Blessed Trinity pupil take total control with his throu-back style coming to the thaw, landing heavy lead hand hook combinations through-out.

North West champion Smokin' Joe Crawford, 12, quared up against J Peat of West Hull ABC in a contest of three, two minute rounds.

The first saw the classy Crawford keep control centre ring moving off in angles catching Peat with ease, the second and third saw the St Christopher’s Year 8 pupil counter every attack thrown by Peat punishing every error making good contact with his lead hand and rear hand upper-cuts.

The judges ringside gave a unanimous decision to the young Ighten Hill star.

Sandygate senior, Brandon Hartley, 18, entered the squared circle next for the ever busy Hargreaves Street club against C Rawson of Pool Of Life ABC.

From the opening bell, Hatley dominated using great ringcraft catching Rawson with classic lead rear combos. The second was to be the Burnley boxers best, good feet, fast hands and a solid work rate continued the whole duration of the round going into the third and final with a commanding lead.

The last round saw Rawson throw everything he had which allowed Hartley to counter and take control once more, at the end Accy Road’s Hartley had was raised aloft with another unanimous win.

Accrington.s Lee O'Hara, 24, blew of the cobwebs returning to the ring after a couple of years absence against J Mitchell Nortside ABC, narrowly lost out on a split decision after a close bout.
