AFC DARWEN Under 14s hit six of the best as they came out on top in a 10-goal thriller to beat Readstone Juniors.

Hot on the heels of their 8-0 win against Clitheroe Wolves the previous week, Darwen had their shooting boots on once again – and they needed to be.

For the Under 14s Red Division high-flyers – unbeaten with three wins and a draw – were pushed all the way by Readstone Juniors.

Played at Accrington Academy, both teams played their part in an entertaining encounter.

Billy Blevins-Carrington led the way for the home team, scoring a brace, while Max Benedetto and Max Dawson were both on target.

But there was no denying Darwen a third win in four games as Leon Barker-Williams (2), Charles Butterworth, Connor Farley, Oliver Lindsay and Luke Ramsden all hit the target n the 6-4 victory.

AFC Darwen are currently second, three points behind Mill Hill who have played a game more. The leaders were also in goal-scoring mood, beating Blue Star 7-1 with James Devlin and Jihad Hussain both scoring twice.

Cain Birtles, Joseph Cotton and Jacob Crompton completed the scoring.

Lammack Juniors picked up their first win of the season after beating Crown Paints 3-2.

Clitheroe Wolves are up to sixth place after beating Darwen Rangers 2-0.

In the Under 14s Yellow Division, Huncoat United made it four wins out of four after a 3-0 win Barrowford Celtic Orange to go top of the table.

Riley Armstrong struck twice with Adam Collison also on target.

Clitheroe Wolves lost top spot after losing for the first time this season, losing 3-0 at Rossendale United Lads with Brennan Boys, Max Broughton and Luke Harris getting the goals.

James Danson bagged a hat-trick as Pendle Forest won 5-0 at Bacup. Jacob Procter and James both scored as Forest celebrated their first win of the season.

And Todmorden Sports Centre U14s battled to a 2-2 draw with third-placed Barnoldswick Town.

Ben Cook and Kofi Marshall scored for the hosts with William Peel-Waller and James Hughes replying for Town.

In the Under 14s Green Division, leaders Globe Bullough Park maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a thumping 9-2 win at Lowerhouse Juniors.

Second-placed Langho Juniors own 100 per cent record came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Fulledge Colts Blue.

Darwen Spartans are third after a 2-1 win at Feniscowles and Pleasington.

Ben Norris scored for the Blackburn side but goals from Matthew Hamer and Connor Kelly clinched the points for Spartans.

And Barrowford Celtic Black picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Padiham Saints.

Marcus Kay-Davies and Benjamin King scored for the home team but goals from Blake Ridding and Harry Smith saw Celtic pick up a deserved point.
