LONGRIDGE United are locked in a nervy Premier Division relegation scrap after crashing 7-2 at Eagley.

Town's form has collapsed this year, and they have plunged into the bottom five after this defeat, with only strugglers Tempest United, Vickerstown, Slyne with Hest and doomed Norcross and Warbreck below them.

Eagley scored twice in a minute early on through Tom Darby and Matthew Carr, before United hit back through Oliver Squires and Shannon Hoole to haul them level.

However, Scott McNare and Andrew Lindley restored the home side's advantage with a quick fire double a couple of minutes before half time.

After that, it was one-way traffic though as Matthew Carr grabbed his hat trick and McNare, scoring his second of the game, completed the rout.

It was a day to forget for Burnley United too, thrashed 4-0 at home by Fulwood Amateurs, where former Preston North End and West Bromwich forward was on the mark.

Top dogs Charnock Richard suffered a shock defeat, though, losing 3-2 to bottom club Norcross.

Meanwhile, Hurst Green are edging closer to promotion in Division One, and goals from Sam Hayes and Andy Nolan gave them the points at Wyre Villla in a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Leaders Lostock St Gerards made no mistake, with Oliver Vokes and Dave Scarborough in the goals as they cruised past bottom of the table Millom 3-0.

In Division Two, Haslingden St Mary's saw Mike Robinson, Darrell Holland, and Eddie Smart on the mark in a 3-1 win over Ladybridge.

But Todmorden Borough tasted defeat, losing 2-0 at Milnthorpe Corinthians.

In Division Two, Longridge's second string fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Turton's second string. Liam Evason and Mickey Fell netted for Longridge.

Hurst Green's interest in the WLFL Cup is over after a third round defeat to Leyland United, with Danny Ellis (2) and Sean Ward netting for the opposition. Nick Wilkinson grabbed the consolation goal for Hurst Green.
