TONY Mowbray revealed Rovers are set to make an offer for a player on deadline day, but is relaxed as to whether it proves successful or not.

Rovers head in to deadline day having recruited Adam Armstrong, Jack Payne and Amari’i Bell as well as made Paul Downing’s loan deal a permanent one.

Sam Hart and Elliott Ward have left the club on loan, while Scott Wharton could join them, with several League Two sides interested in his services.

Mowbray wants to ensure Rovers get value for money from all of their transfer dealings and insists he won’t be held to ransom over fees.

“We will probably make another bid for a footballer,” Mowbray told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“We have enquired but not had much success but I don’t sit here thinking it’s the be all and end all.

“I’m just trying to add good players to the ones we’ve got and if not then that’s fine.

“I think the group have shown that they can win matches in this league but when there is the opportunity and the transfer window is open you should try and improve your squad.

“What I would say about our recruitment department who are working extremely hard it wasn’t really put together for this window because it was too soon.

“They have just started work really but by the next window, hopefully in the next league up, we’ll have lists of players that we want to sign and with the support of the owners we’ll be able to progress the football club and move forward.”
