Falkirk boss Paul Hartley says Cieran Dunne could seal a move to Ewood Park after spending a week on trial with Rovers.

Dunne could follow Tony Gallacher out of the club who joined Liverpool this week, with Hartley admitting: “we’re not here to stand in anybody’s way”.

Seventeen-year-old Dunne has featured six times for the Bairns so far this season and is said to have impressed Rovers scouts before being invited for a trial.

He made his debut for the club in October and has made three league starts in all.

Tony Mowbray has said that Rovers’ remaining recruitment before the January transfer window closes could be with an eye on the future, and Hartley told The Scotsman that his midfield man, who turns 18 next month, could soon be added to the Rovers ranks.

He said: “Cieran is down in Blackburn for the next few days and we’ll see where it goes.

“I think they’ve seen him a few times and they invited him down, and we’ve let him go down to see a different club and a change of scenery.

“As I’ve said before, we’re not here to stand in anybody’s way. We can’t do anything about bigger clubs coming to take our players, that’s just the way football is.”
