ROVERS reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury Town.

David Raya 5

Caught out under the high ball once in each half, including in the lead up to the Shrewsbury goal. Had a let off in the first half when penalised for a foul outside the box but made a key save at 1-0.

Paul Caddis 6

Plenty of neat touches, and was one of the few players who picked the right pass. Attacked well down the right late on in the second half as Rovers pushed for an equaliser.

Elliott Ward 4

Anxious defending throughout, including in the lead up to the Shrewsbury goal, and exposed far too often.  Gave the ball away in possession with too many long balls forward.

Charlie Mulgrew 6

Made two good last-ditch tackles in each half, but did have some lapses in concentration when in possession. Saw a second half free-kick saved.

Derrick Williams 5

Left far too isolated in the first half and troubled by the pace of Whalley.  Went close with a 30-yard strike in the second half.

Elliott Bennett 5

Move to the left to try and help provide cover for Williams. Saw a second half shot deflected before his run of playing every minute so far this season ended after the break.

Richie Smallwood 6

Found himself trying to fight fires in the middle of the park as Rovers were overrun for much of the game. Got more involved in proceedings as Rovers pushed for an equaliser.

Corry Evans 5

Neat and tidy at times, but much of that was playing sideways and backwards.  Couldn’t help plug the gaps in the middle of the park before being replaced.

Bradley Dack 7 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Came up with the equaliser just when Rovers looked to be heading for a defeat.

Played slightly out of position on the left, and needs to work on the defensive side of the game, but flourished when moved in to the number 10 role following the substitutions.

Came through 90 minutes on his first start since August 19 and looked the most likely to create something for Rovers.

Unfortunate to be carded in the lead up to Shrewsbury’s goal.

Danny Graham 6

Was forced to feed of long balls forward on what was his first league start since August 12.  Put the work off the ball which Mowbray would have wanted from him.

Dominic Samuel 6

Went close with a header in the first half, and tried to link the play where possible.  Takes too many touches at times, but looked lively throughout.

Subs

Peter Whittingham (for Evans, 72) 7

Used the ball intelligently after coming on, and stopped a late Shrewsbury attack with good covering play.

Harry Chapman (for Bennett, 72) 7

Was direct whenever in possession, and it was his forceful run which led to Dack's equaliser. Saw two efforts saved by Dean Henderson.

Marcus Antonsson (for Graham, 72) 7

Operated from the left and saw plenty of the ball and gave Rovers an outlet down that side after coming off the bench.

Subs not used; Jayson Leutwiler, Paul Downing, Lewis Travis, Sam Hart
