ROVERS captain Jason Lowe says his focus remains on Championship safety rather than his future ahead of the club’s relegation showdown at Brentford on Sunday.

Lowe could lead Rovers out for the final time at Griffin Park this weekend with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The midfielder is one of a number of out of contract players facing an uncertain future at the club but the 25-year-old, who is five games short of 200 Rovers appearances, admits Championship safety is at the forefront of his mind going in to what is being billed as the club’s biggest game since the Premier League title decider 22 years ago.

“It is at the back of my mind,” Lowe said of his Ewood Park future.

“I just want to go out there, try and get the win and then see where it leaves us. My own future after that will be what happens.”

Lowe is the sole survivor of the Rovers squad relegated from the Premier League back in 2012 and the midfielder is looking to help the club avoid the drop to the third tier as they head to Griffin Park trailing Nottingham Forest on goal difference and Birmingham City by two points.

Rovers’ hopes of moving themselves clear of the relegation zone were given a lift after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Lowe provided the assist for Danny Graham to score his 13th of the season in the Ewood Park victory.

And having performed under the pressure against Villa, Lowe is hoping Rovers can take that confidence in to the final game of the season at Brentford.

“We are still in with a fighting chance,” he added. “On Sunday hopefully we can be the right side of the line.

“Hopefully we can build on the Villa win at Brentford and go there with confidence looking to get the win.

“We have shown we can go away from home and win games, that’s what we have to do.

“It’s very simple, it’s all or nothing for us and hopefully we can get the win and that will be enough.

“It’s a game that will be very high pressure but we have to have that freedom to play and express ourselves and not freeze in the big moments.”
