BLACKBURN Rovers goalkeeper David Raya has signed a new and extended contract at the club.

Raya, whose previous deal ran until next summer, has agreed a one-year extension to his contract which will now run until 2019.

The 21-year-old stopper, who has featured six times for Rovers this season, joined from Barcelona-based club UE Cornella in summer of 2012.

Raya made his Rovers debut on April 4 2015 having spent much of that season on loan at Southport.

He started the 2015/16 as the club’s first choice under Gary Bowyer but lost his place to Jason Steele after the 0-0 draw with Bolton on August 28.

That was his last appearance for Rovers in the Championship, though he has featured in one FA Cup, two EFL Cup and three Checkatrade Trophy fixtures.
